BRANDON SPORTS CENTER GETS $25,000 BOOST
By Tamas Mondovics
“This is huge for us. Donations like this go a long way on behalf of our
members and the community,” said Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center (BSAC)
Executive Director Chuck Burges, whose optimism came after receiving a
$25,000 donation by Cardel Homes on behalf of the facility this month.
Burgess said that the money was by far the largest single donation the
center has received so far, following a $1,000 donation from the Walmart
Foundation to BSAC less than a week before.
Cardel Homes Marketing Director Rob Revoy was on-hand to present the check
and was welcomed by members of the BSAC Board as well as coaches and young
athletes prior to enjoying some cake and refreshments during the
festivities.
According to Revoy, this was the company’s first donation to the Brandon
Sports and Aquatic Center and was the result of a number of visits to the
facility and its family-oriented outlook and service to the community.
“The donation process started about a year ago,” Revoy said. “After visiting
the center, we liked what we saw and what BSAC is doing to support the
community it serves.”
Revoy also mentioned that Cardel Homes is a family owned company and
valuing such, it was not hard to choose BSAC as an organization to support.
“We always want to give back to the community, and we know that at such a
diverse and well-balanced sports facility like BSAC, the money will go a
long way,” Revoy said. Burgess, proud of BSAC’s recent first place win of
the 2009-2010 Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year
Award, was quick to agree.
“Thanks to the unique and diverse programs offered here, our facility
impacts a lot of people. This money will help hundreds of kids in our
communities,” he said.
According to Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center Director of Marketing
and Member Services, Lori Bukaweski, Cardel Homes’ generous donation will
be used to assist with scholarships and many youth programs at the center.
